The story behind the lens
Hi, I'm Diogo.
Curiosity as the engine.
As a Biomedical Sciences student, I built La Loupe because I wanted to stay seriously informed — without drowning in scientific jargon, or getting lost in social-media fake news. The tool I needed didn't really exist. So I built it.

The origin
A problem I was facing myself.
I'm in Biomedical Sciences. Science is my everyday life. And yet — like many — I never found the time or the energy to really follow new research. Peer-reviewed papers are often too technical. Social-media science coverage is too shallow or plainly inaccurate.
I was stuck in a frustrating in-between: too much jargon on one side, too much oversimplification on the other. No one was speaking to me the way I wanted to be spoken to — someone who wants to understand without being an expert, but still wants access to real, verifiable, sourced information.
La Loupe was born from that personal frustration. A tool I build first for myself, and then share with everyone who feels the same way.
The approach
What La Loupe commits to doing.
-
Always start from the original paper. Every La Loupe article is based on a real scientific publication, with the DOI, the PubMed link, and the source directly accessible. You can verify everything yourself — that's the whole point.
-
Three reading levels, always. Beginner, intermediate, expert. Whether you're a curious high-schooler or a health professional, you find your level. Same information, adapted — not oversimplified, not buried in jargon.
-
Zero unexplained jargon. Every technical term is explained. If it isn't, that's a bug — tell me about it.
-
Transparency above all. Study limitations are named. Conflicts of interest are flagged. A serious study deserves a serious reading — flaws included.
-
Free and ad-free. La Loupe will never be monetized through advertising. The only goal is to share reliable knowledge. No paid partnerships, no sponsored content.
My other project
La Loupe is part of a bigger universe.
La Loupe isn't my only digital project. I also develop Kodō Lab, a web-design studio that shares the same philosophy: things well made, with intent, that last. Curiosity and attention to detail run through both projects.
